How To Deal With A Break Up - 3 Ways

Source : Ex Back System permits to republish here

So the relationship is over and you’re wondering how to deal with a break up. Maybe it’s the first break up you’ve had that really upset you. Or maybe it’s not your first and you’re looking for answers because even after all this time you still don’t know how to deal with a break up.

When a relationship ends you can have several reactions. You might be missing your ex boyfriend or girlfriend. Or you might be angry as hell and wonder what you ever saw in them in the first place. You’ll probably feel a variety of things, and maybe several different emotions in the course of a single day.

Knowing how to deal with a break up is never easy, but there are 3 things you can do that can help you deal with the pain.

First, distract yourself with humor. You won’t be able to get away from the sadness and anger you’re feeling right at first. And many experts believe you shouldn’t try to avoid it. Feel it and just let it happen. But you can’t let this go on too long.

Once you’ve had that good cry or those days spent moping around the house, it’s time to distract yourself. Watch funny movies on DVD or go see a funny film. Talk to the friends who make you laugh. Go see a comic if there’s a show in your area. Laughing will make you feel better and forget your pain for a little while.

A second thing you can do when learning how to deal with a break up is do something you couldn’t have done while in the relationship. Did he dislike a certain kind of food and that kept you from going to that type of restaurant even though you love it? Did you not go to see a certain type of movie because he hated them?

Do things that you love that you couldn’t do in the relationship. You’ll feel a bit liberated and rediscover something you truly enjoy.

Third, stop think about relationships, period. The tendency for some people is to want to jump right into something new to provide a distraction from the old relationship. Try not to do this. You’ll have to time for more relationships later—you have all the time in the world. Focus on you for a change.

Think about your goals, without a boyfriend or girlfriend. What’s important to you? Have you always wanted to get more fit by lifting weights? Have you always wanted to have one of your poems published? Write a novel, get promoted at work, or learn to scuba dive? Pick something that you’re passionate about, and do it.

Look at this time after your break up as an opportunity instead of a setback. Now you have time to focus on yourself. Do something that makes you happy and work toward a goal. How to deal with a break up is a very individual thing, so be a little selfish for a change and work toward something you really want.

How To Get Over A Break Up - Go Out

Source : Ex Back System permits to republish here

Everybody has advice to offer about how to get over a break up. When your relationship ends, you’ll probably get so much advice that some tips will be the exact opposite of other tips. That’s because how to get over a break up is different from person to person.

Some people wallow in sadness for weeks. They might play their couple song over and over and cry every time. They might watch their favorite couple movies, or look through photo albums. If you do this for a short period of time, it can help you purge the sadness and really deal with it.

But you can’t let yourself do this for very long. And the other extreme is just as unhealthy: pretending everything is okay.

Some people put on an act for other people and themselves. They act as if they’re not bothered by the break up, and that life goes on as normal. They may start dating right way and find another girlfriend or boyfriend in no time, as if the old one didn’t matter.

This is just denial, and the unwillingness to feel the sadness and pain that come when you’re thinking about the lost relationship and wondering how to get over a break up.

The healthiest response falls somewhere in the middle of those two extremes. And a great way to start getting over the break up and your broken heart is to go out.

You don’t have to start dating romantically. It’s probably too soon for that, and doing so would just push you into a sort of sad denial about the recent break up.

But if you can go out with the mindset that you’re going to enjoy yourself and have a good time, and nothing more, this can help you starting getting over the break up.

You might choose to go out with close friends. Your best friends probably want to take you out to help get your mind off your troubles anyway, so let them. If no one suggests it, it might be because they’re not sure you want to go.

Sometimes going out can be painful at first, especially if you go somewhere you went as a couple or you might run into mutual friends who want to ask questions about the break up. And your best friends might think you’re not ready or that it would make things worse to ask you to go.

So if no one suggests it, invite them. Tell them you want to go out and have fun, and they should be ready to help you out, because that’s what friends do for each other. Getting out of the house and having fun is a great “how to get over a break up” activity, and who better to share it with than good friends.

What about a date? How to get over a break up is different for everyone, so make sure your date knows your situation, and that you’re going just for fun and friendship right now.

Getting Over A Break Up - Two Tips

Source : Ex Back System permits to republish here

Getting over a break up is never easy. You can do a hundred different things to try to make it easy, and some of them help. But they never change the fact that getting over a break up hurts, and it can hurt for a very long time.

The worst pain of a relationship break up is usually right at first. Often, we don’t see these things coming, so the relationship ending can be something of a shock. Once the shock starts to wear off, the pain and sadness set in.

These feelings are perfectly natural, even though they’re also very unpleasant. None of us want to sit around feeling sad and hurt, but it’s important that you let yourself be sad and let yourself cry about the ending relationship.

This is important because without really dealing with your emotions it’s hard to move on and start getting over a break up. If you keep pushing the sadness away and refusing to deal with it, it’ll stay there waiting for you to finally give in and let it happen. So the longer you put off dealing with your feelings, the longer the whole process takes.

And even if you’re denying your feelings, you still do feel sad and upset deep down. By refusing to deal with it, you’re forcing yourself to feel bad much longer than necessary. So the first tip is to truly let yourself cry and feel all the negative emotions associated with a break up.

The second tip to help with getting over a break up will be hardest for those who still remain in a little denial about the end of the relationship. If you entertain the hope that you’ll get your ex back one day, this will be very hard.

But the relationship is over, and by holding out hope that you’ll get back together you keep yourself from moving forward in your own life. So the best thing to do is to remove all memories of your ex for right now, and completely avoid seeing the person as much as possible.

Maybe the break up was a civil one and you want to stay friends. That’s great! And that makes it more likely that he or she will understand your need to distance yourself for a while. Getting over a break up is hard when you’re faced with the person you miss every day or often.

Staying friends is admirable but you’re hurting right now. Seeing that person will only remind you of that pain. You can reestablish contact when you’re feeling stronger and less likely to pine for the lost relationship every time you see him or her.

If your ex wants to remain friends with you, then he or she should understand your need to take care of yourself for a while, especially if they are the one who ended the relationship. While it hurts to take that final step of avoiding the ex, it’s really necessary for getting over a break up.

Moving On - Break Up Situations Explained

Author: H Todd Scholer permits to repoblish here.

How do you start moving on? Break up with your boyfriend, of course. Break ups don\'t have to be dramatic affairs either. You can simply say that you don\'t think you are right for each other at this time in your life. He may agree with you. Or, he may hope for a reconsideration. But don\'t reconcile. Instead, go ahead and move on with your life.

It may be hard at first to fill the empty spaces left by the absence of your ex. Your bed may feel empty. You will have to eat alone some times.

There may be people who you considered friends that take his side. So, be prepared to lose some people from your life as well.

But don\'t despair. If the relationship wasn\'t meeting your needs, moving on break up is necessary. It will give you a chance to reconnect with friends and family. All too often, a boyfriend sucks time out of your life and the first to go are those you are otherwise closest too.

So, after a break up, get back together with your girlfriends. Plan girls nights out. Take a girls weekend to a spa resort, New York City, or even Sin City itself, Las Vegas.

Don\'t worry if your friends are a little bit tentative at first. If you\'ve shunned them for your ex, they may be hesitant to take you back into their inner circle. If this happens, proceed slowly.  Ask them to brunch and not a weekend away.

Spend time with your family too. They may have hated your ex or they may have become close to him. Whatever the case is, you need to reestablish your relationship with your family as a single woman rather than as part of a couple. Use this time to explore what your relationship with each family member means to you. Try to be loving and accepting of all of them. You may find that the bonds are stronger after a moving on break up.

Usually in relationships, there are compromises. Often, women give up things they really enjoy as a sacrifice to their romantic relationships. If a guy doesn\'t understand why your book circle is important to you, you give it up. After a moving on break up you have the chance to take up your old interests once again.

But you also have the chance to explore new interests. If you have always wanted to take Ballroom Dancing but never had the chance, go for it girl! This is the time to explore what life has to offer you.

At some point, you will get back into a meaningful relationship. At that point, you will want to have experienced the kind of self growth that makes the romantic relationship stronger than one you ever had before. Use the time after a moving on break up to strengthen yourself so that your next relationship will be even better.

Break Up Advice For Guys Wanting To Dump Their Girlfriend

Here's some break up advice if you are trying to dump your girlfriend. Women are fragile creatures, and your best self defense when you are calling it off is to have a good offensive plan. Your strategy should incorporate time, place, and tone. Here's my best break up advice for you.

It's better not to break up in the heat of the moment. If you feel like calling it quits, then leave. Tell your girlfriend that you'll talk in the morning. Giving you the space you need lets you cool off and get back together, if that's appropriate. Or, it gives you a chance to break up well so that you don't have regrets later.

My first piece of break up advice has to do with timing. If this is a long term relationship and there's a major event coming up including a holiday such as Christmas, Valentineís Day, or her Birthday, if you break up with her right before, it will make you look like you just wanted to get out of buying a present.

Also, take into consideration what is happening in her life. If you break up with her the night before her LSAT exam, she may blame you for not getting into Harvard Law for the rest of her life.

If you take this break up advice too literally, though, you'll never be able to call it quits, because there will always be something on the horizon. So, take timing into consideration but don't be a slave to it.

Next, you have to determine place. If you break up with her at your home, then if there is a scene, you can't just walk out. If you break up with her at her home, then she may always associate some of her things with the break up.

It's best to break up at a public place such as a restaurant. This will probably limit or reduce any histrionics on her part because she won't want to make a scene in front of strangers. You are also free to leave if she doesn't take it well.

If you live together, you should be prepared ahead of time to leave for the night and sort out the property issues later when you are both calmer. Even if it's your place but she's living there, don't turn her out in the cold.

Next, you have to determine the tone. Women tend to want to talk. They want to analyze what went wrong in the relationship. Don't fall into this trap. Set the tone by saying you're moving into another place in your life and you don't see her in it. Then shut up. She may scream. She may cry. She may demand explanations. Don't give in. If you need to, get up and leave.

My best break up advice is to set the time, place and tone in such a way that causes her the least amount of pain, and then let the chips fall where they may.

Reasons For A Boyfriend Break Up

Source : Ex Back System permits to republish here

Have you had a boyfriend break up? Maybe you were the one calling it quits. Or, perhaps he dumped you. Maybe it was a so called “mutual decision.” In any case, sometimes a boyfriend break up is devastating.

There are many reasons for a boyfriend break up. I’m going to look at three in this article.

The first reason is that he cheated on you. You need to be very clear in your mind what cheating means. Does that mean that he actually went out on a date with another girl? Does it mean that he was making out with her at a party? Does it mean that he danced with another girl? Does it mean that he simply looked at one? Defining what you mean by cheating can be very important.

If you have never had a talk about what “exclusiveness” in your relationship means, he may have had no idea that you would consider what he did cheating. He may even be stunned that you would consider a boyfriend break up over that!

If you want to take him back, then you need to have a talk about expectations. If he can agree to the expressed rules, you can get back together. If they’re not something he can live with, then you are better off without him in the long run.

Another reason for a boyfriend break up is that you move in different places. Sometimes this happens in a physical sense. For instance, your family moves to another state or you and he go to colleges in different locations. Most relationships cannot survive a great distance in geography and the break up may be mutual, but still painful.

Other times this happens because you start to move in different social spheres in the same place. You may join the cheerleading squad and he’s not comfortable with your new friends, for instance. Or, he gets serious about a religious preference that you have no interest in. When this happens, it is just time to move on.

Finally, a boyfriend break up can occur when you need a different kind of lifestyle. You may just be tired of having to cater to a boy’s needs ahead of your own, for instance. Or, you may be bored with him. He may have seemed glamorous and exciting at first, but now he’s just a pain. You may have thought you needed a boyfriend because all of your other friends were pairing up, but now you realize that you need your own space and are not ready for a relationship.

In this case, the guy may agree with you or he may try to win you back. But, make sure you put your own needs first.

Keep in mind that there are plenty of other guys out there who are eager to have a girl like you, so there’s no need to have a relationship that isn’t working for you. Although it may hurt at first, you will survive a boyfriend break up.

Live Your Life While Getting Over A Breakup

Author: H Todd Scholer permits to republish here
When you\'re getting over a breakup, life can feel upside down. The longer you were with your ex, the longer you will probably feel like you\'re living a different life. And if you were a really close couple, getting over a breakup can be even harder, sometimes to the point that you feel like it\'s not worth getting out of bed in the morning.

When your life changes drastically as it does when a relationship ends, everything can feel a bit surreal. You\'re used to a person being near you a lot, and suddenly that person is nowhere to be found. It\'s common to have this painful sense of missing something vital, just from having your ex suddenly absent from your life.

And painful or upsetting memories seem to be everywhere. You sat on that couch together and watched movies. He fixed the lamp in your bedroom that you use every night. You went to that restaurant with your friends every couple of weeks.

If you have mutual friends, the pain can often be even worse because you know they\'re close to both of you, and the group you used to hang out with has now been splintered by the breakup.

Often, because of these types of things, a person getting over a breakup will make more drastic changes in an attempt to make the other changes feel better. You might stop going to familiar places that you used to frequent with your ex. You might avoid his favorite foods.

Some people even sleep on the couch or in another bed for a while because the memories in their own bed are too painful. These kinds of feelings are normal and the feelings you have when avoiding those types of things can make things feel easier for a while.

But if you just keep living your life as you always had, eventually the things that you really do need to change will become apparent. These things can be as small as putting away a picture of the two you, moving it to a location where you won\'t see it as much, or maybe adjusting your circle of friends.

It\'s important to continue to live your life when getting over a breakup. And while it\'s perfectly natural to not want to spend a lot of time in a place where you spent lots of time as a couple, the sooner you can go there and learn to enjoy it on your own or with other people, the better off you\'ll be.

If you make too many drastic changes now, you can end up feeling even worse about things. You can make your life unrecognizable from the way it was before, which is jarring and not necessarily healthy, no matter how it seems at the time.

Changing too many things is a form of denial. So when getting over a breakup, try to keep your schedule and your habits the same as they were before and soon you\'ll recognize the changes that really will benefit you.

Surviving A Breakup - 3 Things To Help

Author: H Todd Scholer permits to republish here

Surviving a breakup can feel impossible, especially if you didn\'t really want the relationship to end. But even if you were the one who decided it was over, it can feel crummy to have such an important part of your life end. There are three important things you can to help with surviving a breakup.

First, let yourself be sad. It\'s natural to not want to feel sad. None of us likes to be upset or depressed. But when a relationship ends, no matter who ended it, you lose a part of your life. If you haven\'t been dating long, the sad period probably won\'t last that long. But for a long-term relationship, you might be sad for a long time.

It\'s important, as painful as it is, to allow yourself to feel that way. The tendency is to avoid those feelings and try to move on to something that feels better. But being sad is a necessary step in the healing process.
Letting yourself feel the sadness will let you deal with the emotions and the pain. Remember that surviving a breakup is more than just moving on. If you can deal with the bad feelings, you\'ll be better to able to experience the good feelings that come when you\'ve moved on.

Second, keep busy. You have to deal with the sadness and not deny it or push it aside, but that doesn\'t mean you can or should let yourself wallow in it. If you feel like spending the entire day in bed crying, you can let yourself do that. But the next day, even if you feel that way again, make yourself do something else.

Let yourself cry for an hour, and then find an activity to help distract you. Even if it\'s only watching a movie, at least you\'ll be able to concentrate on something else for brief periods of time.

Keep in mind that no matter how active your activity might be, sad thoughts and memories will still creep in. Even if you\'re solving a hard puzzle and concentrating to distract yourself, now and then a memory will pop up and your mind will be back on the breakup. This is normal.

You just have to deal with the feeling briefly and not let it sidetrack you. Feel it, cry for a bit if you need to, and then keep concentrating on your activity. Soon, the sad thoughts and feelings will pop up less and less when youíre doing other things.

Third and finally, decide to forgive your ex. Surviving a breakup isn\'t just about leaving one relationship and looking for another.

You need to resolve things in the old relationship to help you be more emotionally healthy in the next relationship. If you were hurt in the relationship, forgive your ex for his or her part in that.

This might seem an impossible task. Start by realizing that it really does take two, and that surviving a breakup is more important than having someone to blame for it.

How To Deal With A Breakup

Source : Ex Back System permits to republish here

It’s not always easy to get the best advice about how to deal with a breakup. People who have “been there and done that” are usually all too happy to tell you what to do and how to do it, but in the end, how to deal with a breakup is a very individual thing.

Because your relationship wasn’t like anyone else’s relationship, the breakup was unique, too. Even if it was over a common thing like cheating or your boyfriend just neglecting you, how you feel won’t be like how everyone else who’s had a breakup feels.

So the best way to figure out how to deal with a breakup is to really figure out how you feel. Some people will give you advice about how to get rid of everything that reminds you of the relationship. This can be good advice if it feels right for you.

Gifts he’s given you or pictures of the two of you might be better put away for a while. You don’t have to get rid of them forever, just put them in a box in the closet or in a drawer, out of sight.

This doesn’t mean you don’t ever want to see him again or that you don’t miss him. You could end up even being good friends. It simply means that it’s time to be easy on yourself. And not being reminded everywhere you look of your breakup can help make the time easier.

Let’s face it. Whether you were dumped or you broke up with your boyfriend or girlfriend, you feel pain whenever you’re reminded of the situation. And especially if it was a long-term relationship, you’re going to be reminded a lot. When you see places you went together or mutual friends, you can’t help but be reminded.

But when you’re at home, especially in your bedroom, you can try to give yourself a “safe haven” without blatant reminders of the relationship there to bring you down. Even if there’s no bitterness or anger involved with ending the relationship, there’s no reason to let it be on your mind more than it already is with photographs and mementos out in plain sight.

Maybe you’re angry and you’d really like to just throw away everything that reminds you of him. Think hard before you do this. Let the anger and the hurt fade before making any rash decisions. It can be painful figuring out how to deal with a breakup, but doing something you regret is definitely not the way to start.

If you patch things up or become friends, you’ll miss those photographs you had of the two of you having fun. He also might be very hurt to discover you threw away a gift he gave you, which can make it harder to maintain a good friendship.

Breakup is difficult. Everyone will tell you how to deal with a breakup, but you have to do the painful work of figuring out what’s best for you, yourself.

Avoid Bad Break Up Advice

Source : Ex Back System permits to republish here

Everyone will offer break up advice when you’re hurting, even if they don’t know what they’re talking about. Most such advice is still pretty good, as long as you know you have to take what works for you and don’t worry about the rest. But bad break up advice can do more harm than good.

How do you know the difference between good and bad break up advice? The first thing to do is look at the source.

Who is giving you the advice? Is it from your mother who never liked him anyway and now seems bent on pointing out to you every reason you should have never been in the relationship? Is it from a friend that you’ve always known was secretly jealous of your relationship?

Did you find the advice online from a site about break ups where it seemed there were lots of different opinions and helpful tips? Or did it come from a book or website by a relationship specialist who offers lots of advice aimed at helping you, rather than serving some agenda?

You know the people in your life who always seem to know what to do in any situation. Break up advice from them is probably good. And even if it’s not the greatest advice, you know their desire is to help you feel better. They don’t have a hidden reason for offering up certain ideas.

Someone who didn’t like your ex, didn’t like that you were in the relationship, or is a little jealous of you for some reason might offer advice that makes them feel better. But they’re really not going to be that concerned with helping you.

For instance, one of your closest friends might give you advice and tell you that you throw away everything he ever gave you. And maybe you’re angry and that seems like good advice to you. But if you know or even suspect that the friend might have been jealous of the relationship, then it’s probably bad break up advice.

In a few months when you’re feeling better about things, will you be happy about having gotten rid of every memento and picture? Probably not.

But the idea of you getting rid of those things might make your friend feel better because you’ll be taking irreversible steps to get rid of something she never thought you should have in the first place.

No matter how much it hurts now, the good times you had in the relationship will probably remain good memories forever. So getting rid of everything might cause you more pain in the future when you wish you had that one special picture that always made you happy.

Bad break up advice can also encourage you to move on too quickly. Or maybe they’ll advise you to do and say things to jeopardize a future friendship with your ex.

Take all advice slowly and really think about it before you act. The bad

break up advice won’t feel right in the end and you’ll know to avoid it.

Steps For Surviving A Break Up

Source : Ex Back System permits to republish here

Surviving a break up is a painful experience.  You may feel rejected.  You may be doubting your own self worth.  You may not feel like getting out of bed in the morning.  One thing that may help you is to know that most people have already gone about the process of surviving a break up and have come out stronger for it.

Here are some of the steps for surviving a break up.

First of all, allow yourself to mourn the end of the relationship.  Your ex was almost like an appendage to you.  You identified him or her as a part of you.  You were two halves of a couple.  Just as you would be lost if your right arm was cut off, losing a significant other can be painful.

So, spend some time grieving for the relationship’s end.  It can actually be a healthy thing to do.

But at some point (hopefully soon), you have to move on.  You will need to go through a process of being angry at your ex.  He or she hurt you and you have every right to feel mad at them.

Here’s a tip for surviving a break up in the anger stage.  Write a long letter to your ex spilling out your guts about how you feel.  Put every emotion, experience, and feeling into the letter.  But don’t mail it to them.  Whatever you do, don’t mail it.  Instead, light a candle and burn it slowly over the flame.  As your letter goes up in smoke, release your anger.

At this point, it is time to start rebuilding your life.  Surviving a break up means getting back into the game.  You should definitely lean on the support of friends and family during this difficult time.  The people closest to you will understand that you are having trouble putting your life back together and they should offer you the support that you need to heal.

Also, you should look for activities that spark your interest.  Perhaps there were things that your ex didn’t like to do with you that you’ve missed.  Renew your interest in these things.  If you have had a lifelong desire to learn something, there’s no time like after a break up to try.  You will probably make new friends when you start a new activity and you might even meet a love interest who shares your passion.

At some point, you will want to start dating again.  Don’t expect your first few dates to turn into lifetime relationships.  Just test the waters.  Go out for coffee or a drink.  Have fun and don’t be too serious about these things.

Surviving a break up is always a painful process.  But, you are capable of moving on with your life.  Look at the end of the relationship as a chance for growth.  Millions of people have survived a split with their ex and you will too.

Relationship Break Up Advice - Can You Get Back Together

Source : Ex Back System permits to republish here

When a relationship ends, you'll get relationship break up advice from many different sources. Friends and family will be some of the first to rush at you with advice. Even people you don't know well, when they find out about the break up, will try to give you advice. And you can find tons of relationship break up advice in books, magazines and online.

The problem with this advice is that it's given as if one size fits all. Particularly when it's in the form a quiz, it's as if you should just do these specific things and it will fix the relationship. But this is far from the truth.

Relationship break up advice is only as good as the person giving it. How much do your friends and family know about your relationship? Are they qualified to give counseling or advice? Does that Internet site just want to sell you something?

Women's magazines are full of quizzes and advice about relationships and break ups. It might do both men and women some good to read them, if only to see how not to approach a breakup.

The best advice you can get is based on you and your ex. Unfortunately, most people only really know one of you well. Your friends are going to give you advice based on what they know about you. And your ex' friends will give advice based on that person.

If someone knows both of you equally well, there's still a change the advice you get won't be that helpful. That's because that person might have a bias. They might like you or your ex better. Or they might have a reason they want you to stay apart.

Some of the best relationship break up advice you can get is from an impartial source, like a counselor. A relationship counselor doesn't know either of you, that much is true. So you might wonder how a counselor could possibly offer good advice.

A counselor can offer advice about getting back together because there are some universal things that apply. If you broke up because of a single fight, then it's clear that you both might have let the heat of the moment get to you.

Talking to a counselor about your situation could also reveal that there are underlying problems. Maybe the fight was just the excuse to end the relationship that had been suffering for other reasons. That's something that your friends and family might not know about. You're more likely to discuss this with an impartial stranger.

If an infidelity was the cause of the break up, then the reasons for the infidelity will be of interest to the counselor. Did one of you feel the other had cheated and you were getting revenge? Or does one person not feel like the other meets their needs?

If you're serious about getting back together, try a counselor or some impartial third person with some sort of counseling experience. A counselor can offer more sound relationship break up advice than family or friends.
